Founders Vision
Nelsery’s story is one of determination and empathy. As an immigrant, she navigated the complex maze of adapting to a new culture while staying true to her roots. These experiences ignited a passion in Nelsery: to create a space where individuals, regardless of their cultural background or language, could find understanding, support, and effective therapy.
Understanding the challenges faced by immigrants and marginalized communities in accessing mental health care, Nelsery established Growth Journey Therapy. Her vision was clear – to offer culturally aware therapy that was not only comprehensive but also accessible. She recognized the crucial need for services that were sensitive to the cultural nuances and languages of Pennsylvania’s diverse population.
Our Mission
At Growth Journey Therapy, we provide culturally competent, trauma-informed psychotherapy for BIPOC women, adult children of immigrants, and multicultural families navigating intergenerational and identity-based challenges. Rooted in compassion and advocacy, our mission is to support healing from relational trauma, bridge cultural divides, and empower individuals to reclaim joy, authenticity, and ancestral connection—without losing sight of where they came from.
We believe in breaking cycles of intergenerational trauma, fostering self-understanding, and guiding transformative growth for lasting well-being across generations. We are committed to promoting a safe therapeutic atmosphere in which multiculturalism is celebrated, honored, and integrated into every step of the healing journey.
