Alexandra Rodriguez

Student Clinician

English / Spanish

Meet Alexandra Rodriguez, resident student clinician at Growth Journey Therapy. Alexandra identifies as a Latina cisgendered woman. Through her lived experience and formal training, Alexandra understands the complex and repetitive nature of cycles of intergenerational trauma, and ‘the dance’ that often accompanies these formative familial and cultural experiences. Working within a safe and affirming therapeutic relationship with you, Alexandra will facilitate deeper examination of the earliest memories surrounding your family relationships and community experiences, and will collaborate with you to connect and uncover the significance of these early events in your story, guiding you towards increasing self-awareness of how these formative experiences shaped your attitudes, personality, and present experience in every aspect of your life (at school/work, or in your relationships with your family or others).

Alexandra’s clinical style is eclectic, pulling from multiple clinical approaches to best accommodate the specific needs of the unique person in front of her during sessions. Working with Alexandra, you can expect a loosely structured and goal-oriented approach to treatment, using both depth and insight-oriented questions during sessions for ongoing exploration of whatever personal blind spots you are ready to face as you embark upon your path to wellness. Anything that comes up can be useful during your therapeutic process.

Alexandra’s professional background includes experience supporting multi-cultural, minority, and marginalized (or otherwise under-served) communities, including immigrants, refugees, and survivors of domestic violence. She is currently working towards her master’s degree in Community and Trauma Counseling at Thomas Jefferson University, and ultimately intends to pursue licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
